What Makes Oxlades Special?

We've been serving Queensland schools and artists for well over a century. We opened in Brisbane in 1894 and have remained in business ever since, opening shops to serve local artists across Queensland. In Brisbane, we still operate out of the store that was built for our business in 1922, a century ago.

The company was incorporated in 1910 as Oxlades Bros Pty Ltd., Painters, Decorators, and Signwriters. The original Oxlade brothers were William, Allen, Matt and Bryan – they set out to offer their artistic services and in time, this spread into supplying wholesale products to support artists all over Queensland.

Our ethos is the same today. Even as art moves on, artists will always need the finest supplies for their craft at the best price. This goes for a toddler finger painting a canvas or a professional artist working on their magnum opus – every experience of art is important to us.
